Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the heel caused by overuse of the heel ligament. Common symptoms include sharp heel pain in the morning or after a long period of walking. It is often treated successfully with injection and physical therapy.
Tinea Pedis and onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the feet and nails. Fungal infection presents with discolored and thick nails and dry flaky skin. Proper treatment requires prescription medications to treat and cure the infection effectively.
Achilles tendonitis pain is caused by overuse & inflammation of the achilles tendon. Symptoms include severe pain after periods of long walking, and stiffness or swelling on the back of the heel. Treatment consists of prescription medication and physical therapy.
Hammer toes are one of the most common foot deformities. They may result from wearing narrow and ill-fitting shoes which force the toes in a bent position. Hammer toes can be painful and a risk factor for the development of toe ulcerations. Mild hammer toe can be fixed with an in-office procedure.
Plantar warts or verruca warts are caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in the skin. Common symptoms include pain and swelling with walking. Plantar warts usually present as a callus-like painful skin lesions. They can be treated with paring and proper medication in office.
Ingrown toe nails are another common foot deformity. Common symptoms include pain while walking and may appear red. They may result from tight shoes and fungal infections. Treatment consists of professional nail trimming or removal with local anesthetic.
